Beaufort, NC – Everette (Rett) Newton issues statement on Pat McCrory's announcement that he's jumping into the U.S. Senate race.

 

"As Governor, Pat McCrory failed the people of North Carolina. It's clear Pat McCrory is not a leader who will put people and country first. From peddling extremist and polarizing policies like the bathroom bill which cost our state nearly $4 billion, to repeatedly siding with the fossil fuel industry even amid the wake of climate change fueled hurricanes along our coasts. As a former Air Force officer, marine scientist and Mayor, I will always put people and country first.”
